Gifted Athlete Support Programme

Supporting your sports performance

 

Here at Chichester we are committed to supporting athletes with their studies and sporting ambitions. The University's Gifted Athlete Support Programme (GASP) helps students combine academic study with sport by offering support to compete at the highest level.

Selected athletes could qualify to access expert services from within the IOS, Nursing and Allied Health including:

  • Sport Science (Exercise Physiology, Data Analysis, Biomechanics)
  • Strength and Conditioning
  • Sport Coaching
  • Sport Psychology
  • Nutrition
  • Physiotherapy
  • Sports Therapy

 

In addition, successful applicants will receive:

  • Financial Support*
  • Gym access at the Tudor Hale Centre for Sport
  • GASP branded kit

 
* Level of financial support dependent on recruitment to programme and level of performance (regional/national/international).

 
Who should apply?

Consideration for Gifted Athletes will be given to all candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Regional, national, or international standard in their sport or show strong evidence of future outstanding potential
  • Fulfil the normal entry requirements for the course for which you are applying
  • Be committed to playing a full part in the University and represent us in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) competitions
 
THE NEXT STEPS

GASP applications are now open for prospective students. Please complete the application form using the link. Applications will open in September for returning students.

The GASP Selection Board consisting of Professor Mike Lauder, Dr Jenny Smith and Nathan Bickle will review the applications and disseminate the outcomes to successful applicants within two weeks of the deadline.

Applications will close on Friday 19th April 2024 at midnight.
