#TakeAStand Accreditation

Brief History

The Sports Charter was introduced in 2011 by the government and is backed by a number of major sporting bodies including: The Football Association, England and Wales Cricket Board, Lawn Tennis Association, as well as the Rugby Football League and Union.

The University of Chichester showed its support for the initiative in 2014 when over 100 students and staff signed the Sports Charter. Working alongside the LGBT+ Society and the University of Chichester Equalities and Diversity department, SU Sport introduced a Rainbow themed WSIHE Wednesday in 2015/16, giving away rainbow laces to students who signed the charter.

In 2016/17, SU Sport continued to build on the successes of previous years and brought the campaign inline with the BUCS #TakeAStand initiative that shares the same values as the initial Sports Charter. This academic year we hope to introduce a number of campaigns and events based on the 9 areas of focus of the charter

More information about take a stand can be found on our campaigns pages.

Why is it important to us

Every year more and more students get involved with SU Sport and become part of our WSIHE community. We would like everyone to feel comfortable and accepted. We would also ask all those involved in SU Activities and Competitive Sports to accept those around them.
