THE TIME TO CHANGE PLEDGE
In 2014 the University and the Union signed the Time To Change pledge.
Time To Change was set up by the mental health charity, Mind with remit that large organisation would create an action plan stating what they will be doing in future to help tackle issues around mental health.
The SU and the University have two key aims; to reduce the negative stigma surrounding mental health and also promote positive mental health to all students and staff.
History months highlight the need for voices of diversity and community representation within society to be heard. They present the contributions made by these often ignored or silenced voices within mainstream society. Although the achievements of members of these communities and groups within them are and should be celebrated all the time, the history month enables a pioint of focus and celebration.

Our University and Students’ Union have both gained Fairtrade status. This has been achieved by continued promotion of Fairtrade products and by raising awareness of the Fairtrade mark.
“Fairtrade is a strategy for poverty alleviation and sustainable development. Its purpose is to create opportunities for producers and workers who have been economically disadvantaged or marginalized by the conventional trading system. If fair access to markets under better trade conditions would help them to overcome barriers to development, they can join Fairtrade.”
