There is no such thing as a silly question. . . however these are frequently asked!

Q. What is RAGRace?

RAGRace is a charity fundraising fancy dress pub crawl around Bognor Regis - the evnt started in the 1970’s.

Q. Is it actually a Race?

No it’s not a race, take your time and enjoy the day.

Q. What should I wear?

The event is fancy dress, normally groups get together and do different themes, much of the joy about RAG Race is seeing all the wonderful costumes turn up.  We do advise you think about the practicalities of the weather though and also where will you put your personal belongings.

Here is link for the 2017 photos

Q. Should I buy my ticket in advance?

Yes - We would advise you buy in advance as this years capacity is capped for safety reasons and therefore hate for you to miss out.

Q.What ID should I bring?

You will need your student/library card to access the Hub in the morning and get the RAGPack cheaper. You will need Driving licence or passport to get into venues on the route, venues like Sheiks will be using their ID scanners.

Q. Can I bring my friend to RAGRace?

Yes your friend if not a student can purchase a guest ticket, they must be over 18 and have Driving licence/Passport.

Q. I cannot get to Bognor until later in the day can I still collect/buy my RAGPack?

The Hub will be open until 5pm when the event ends.

Q. What happens to the money for RAGPacks?.

The Money for RAGPacks goes to our nominated charity of the year after associated costs have been deducted. As a charity itself UCSU is not allowed to financially support another charity.

Q. Why are only certain pubs involved/Why has Route changed from last year.

Each pub on the route pays towards the charity to be involved, in previous years some venues have failed to pay towards the charity or failed to follow the requests of UCSU. This has led to a change in route to remove some of those venues. This has also jeopardised the future of the event. Please only support those venues who have been listed.

Q. What should I do if a pub is full?

We advise you go to the next pub, there are plenty on the route.

Q. What time should I arrive at The Hub?

The Hub officially opens at 9am, however the queue bar will open earlier. The Hubs capacity is limited so we cannot get everyone in at the same time, so usually students arrive anytime from 8am-11am.

Q. What happens when we arrive at The Hub?

We ask you access campus via the Barbara smith halls car park. The queue will start behind the sports hall. You will then go through searching & ID checkpoints, queue bar & food area then along to the photo point. Following your photo you will collect/purchase your RAGPack and then enter into The Hub.

Q What will be happening in The Hub?

Once you have entered The Hub you will see we have a DJ inside and the outside area will be fenced off to allow bigger capacity.

Q. Do I need to be at the pubs by the times on the RAGPack?

No,  these are only guideline times, obviously trying to get 1200 students into a pub that hold 200 people in one go is impossible, by spreading the leaving time from The Hub (BRC)  it allows students to all visit as many pubs as they wish.

Q. What time does the event finish?

Officially the event finishes at 5pm.

Q. What advice would you give a first time RAG Racer?

  • It is a long day, so we advise you take it easy and drink water & eat throughout the event.
  • Stay with your friends and look after your friends
  • Take note of the welfare numbers in the rag pack and call if you need assistance.
  • Please be mindful there will be families and elderly out in Bognor town centre so we ask you to respect the local community and avoid swearing.
  • Please listen to the advice of our security team who will be out on the route throughout the day.

Q. How do we get home?

UCSU will be running Safety buses from Bognor back to Chichester from around 17:30 until approx 9pm. Alternatively you can get the double decker bus back from Sheiks nightclub or the 700 which both cost £2 to various drop off points in Chichester.
