Covid-19 Statement - 17th March 2020
Please read, this will have an impact upon everyone
Following the latest government advice (16th March) the Students’ Union Board of Directors and Trustees have taken the hard decision to make the following changes to its day to day operations:
If SU Staff and Officers wish to start working from home, they can as of tomorrow Wednesday 18th March, however please note this will not be all staff. This will not impact the level of representation that we offer. All staff and officers can be contacted via email and phone (office landline numbers are to be diverted). If you have a generic enquiry or unsure who to talk to please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and one of the team will be in contact.
We are aware that many of you have concerns regarding your studies. The Students’ Union are working closely with the University’s Vice Chancellor Group to ensure potential disruption to your academic commitments is minimised. Please ensure keep up to date with information from the University online and via social media; please also check your university emails and moodle pages regularly.
SU Elections will continue to run, however all candidates will be asked to run digital campaigns and voting will be online; please do vote in the election as it is important we have an officer team to represent all students next year.
Zee Bar and The Hub will remain open from 10am to 4pm, for the rest of this week – in turn allowing students and staff a separate place to eat lunch and work, away from the wider populated areas.
As a result of this, all Zee Bar and Hub events are cancelled until April 19th. We will monitor the situation closely and update everyone accordingly during the Easter break. This includes
WSIHE Wednesdays / Karaoke / Battle of the Bands & RAG Race.
All tickets purchased for these events will be refunded. Please allow 7-14 workings days for the money to go back into the account tickets were originally purchased from.
Off sales will be available from Zee Bar - keep an eye on our social media for drinks deals to take home. However, please remember to respect your local neighbours and the Government advice regarding social distancing.
All SU Activities will be cancelled until April 19th. We will monitor the situation closely and update everyone accordingly during the Easter break – this includes society shows, sessions and meet ups, sports fixtures (including friendlies)/training sessions and socials (inducing all planned club awards and charity events).
The SHOP will remain open during the day for essential purchases, please note we will only be able to accept contactless payments.
SU Events after the Easter break (SU Awards, Sports Awards, Summer Ball, etc) are currently subject to review and we will make an announcement as soon as possible. In the meantime please be assured any tickets purchased for these events will be refunded in the event of us cancelling the event.
Our position will change as and when Government advice is issued. Please keep up to date with all our latest information online and social media, our online pages contain a detailed FAQ section, where possible please consult these pages before contacting the team.
