Joining a society is a great way to meet people with similar interests to you, to make friends and help you settle in to University life. You can either try something new or continue something you already enjoy. There are over 25 societies for you to choose from each offering a variety of events and activities to suit you; alternatively you can set up something completely new! If you have a passion that the SU doesn’t currently offer then come and start something that other likeminded students may enjoy.
All the information you will need to know about societies can be found below, here you can see/join all our current societies and also find more information about how to set up one of your very own.
If you can’t find what you are looking for pop into the SU on either campus and say hello. We are here to help! There are also key events across the year, including Freshers’ Fair, where you have the chance walk round and take a look at what each society does, also there will be people at the Fair to talk to and answer any questions you may have.
The Societies Federation governs all SU Societies activities, funding and support, as well as agreeing new societies. The committee made up of students (members) and is elected for the members by the members at the Societies Federation Annual General Meeting (AGM), although additional members can be appointed throughout the year.
