Location: Bognor Regis

RAG RACE

Its the annual Rag Race, it's the 1 day of the year that students take over Bognor Regis pubs and clubs all in the name of charity. Pay your entrance, get your route map and wristband and help raise money for this years charity of year.

Here it is, the invite to the BIGGEST FUNDRAISING EVENT of the student calendar and all for charity.... the OFFICIAL RAG RACE 2017!!!

It is a day when everybody dresses up in fancy dress (which some students spend months making themselves!!!) and go on a specific route around Bognor Regis to a number of licensed public houses and food outlets, all who have given a charitable donation to be involved in the event. Please do not visit venues that are not on the route as they have not contributed to the charity.

Last year (2016) had a turnout of over 2000 people who all had nothing but positive comments about the event ranging from how much fun people had had to how well the event itself had been organised and ran.

The day is an enjoyable one by all, ranging from the students, the venue owners as well as the local residents of the Bognor Regis town, so much so that it has now become a tradition that has happened for at least 30 years.

Each time the RAG Race has been organised the event has raised a huge amount for charity, with around £10,000 being raised each year!

********ABOUT THE CHARITY YOU ARE RAISING MONEY FOR********

Rainbow Trust supports families who have a child aged 0-18 years of age with a life threatening or terminal illness and need the bespoke support we offer.

Today there are an estimated 49,000 children and young people in the UK living with a life limiting or life threatening condition who may require palliative care (University of Leeds, 2011). Many of these children and their families are able to cope or are not in a ‘crisis situation’. However, thousands of families have to face the very real possibility that their child may die and struggle to cope on a day to day basis.

We support these families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness and are in the greatest need. Our Family Support Workers provide a life line to these families and children. We support the whole family including parents, carers, the unwell child, brothers, sisters and grandparents. They bring support and help to families who so desperately need it at home, in hospital and in the community. Any family can receive support from the moment of their child or young person’s diagnosis.
