As UCSU Freshers Week 2017 is drawing to a close, we thought we'd reflect on some of the best bits from a week full of activities, fun and new experiences. From magicians to theatre in a caravan, there was a whole host of things to see and do at Freshers 2017!
Freshers Fair on Wednesday 20th September was the biggest event of the week and a chance to sign up to anything and everything that takes your fancy as a new student starting University. We had a huge marquee, 90 stalls and over over 3000 attendees! It was one of the biggest Fairs we've ever run and we hope everyone who attended had a great time and found something to get involved in.
UCSU Sport Clubs and Societies were out in force and really added to the all round party atmosphere. There was music, games as well as plenty of freebies from a vast array of companies including Dominos and GBK!
Sophie Blanks, our Vice President (Education) commented that 'Freshers Fair was the best I have ever seen. Our clubs and societies were able to meet new students and talk to them about what they are passionate about. The atmosphere was amazing and it was so great to see so many smiling faces.'
Yesterday, Elior hosted a Food Fair at the Courtyard on Bishop Otter Campus. The weather just about held out and plenty of students (and staff!) managed to get a free lunch from a range of wonderful food companies.
There were plenty of events for Freshers to get inolved with throughout the week. One particular highlight was that our traditional WSIHE Wednesday at Zee Bar hosted a Freshers Beach Party / Silent Disco combo, with Chris Stark from Radio 1 as a DJ!
The accommodation office hosted a film on the field night (in the marquee!) on Tuesday and had over 100 students attend to watch a screening of Baywatch....the one with the Rock, not David Hasselhoff!
Arrivals Weekend was one of the best weekends we've expereinced both on and off campus. Our amazing Freshers Crew and Welcome Reps made 'moving in' stress free and a great experience for all involved. The atmosphere on campus was fantastic and our Freshers received a great welcome to Chichester University.
All in all it's been an amazing week and we can't believe it's nearly over already! We hope all Freshers have had a great time and are now settling into University life. The seemingly unlimited supply of free stuff and goody bags is over and the serious studying now begins!
There's still plenty of great events that the SU will be hosting throughout the year so keep an eye on our What's On page or follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to keep updated.
Have a great 2017/18 everyone!
