The Universities cheerleading team has become a successful and establish sports team at the university, competing both nationally around the country whilst also supporting the universities teams.
The WSIHE Wolves are a group of individuals from all backgrounds and abilities, from absolute beginners with no experience to those with an extensive gymnastics, cheerleading, or dance background. The club is a coed environment and continues to create a safe space for everyone to take part in sport. We strive to succeed and showcase our athletes' abilities as well as supporting each other and building friendships.
We offer five different teams covering a range of different areas in cheerleading! We have three competitive teams; Diamond our coed level 2 tumbling team, Amber our level 1 tumbling team, and Sapphire our Pom team, these three teams compete twice a year at national events. Outside of this we have Ruby, our game day team which supports a variety of other WSIHE sports teams and our social team Emerald. All five teams take part in both our in house and external showcases over the year as well as everyone taking part in varsity! As a club we pride ourselves in our student led choreographing and leadership, giving committee the opportunity to learn to lead and choreograph as well as organise and manage, growing their own skills sets outside of their studies. Alongside this we do get guidance and advice from the incredibly supportive team at ‘Hellcats Cheerleaders’ throughout the year whilst also visiting their gym which holds a sprung floor, perfect for competition prep.
Over the years we have excelled in using our platform to advocate for others and raise money for charity, including our recent stint for Breast Cancer Research raising a massive £1200 and £1150 for Movemeber. In recent seasons too we have collected record high scores and placements at competitions, both diamond and sapphire gaining podium status at 3rd and 2nd place!
