Get to know your SU Vice-President

Tell us a little about yourself, what are your interests and what is your background?

Hi, I’m Bel :) I’m a huge movie and music fan, and try to watch as many films as possible in my free time. I love going to concerts and making full use of all the pubs in Chichester with my friends (big Hole in the Wall and Spoons fan!) When I’m at home, I write short stories and enjoy reading.

What Course did you study?

I studied English Literature with Creative Writing

Tell us about your roles and responsibilities?

Represents the academic needs of all union members within the university
Key role in supporting students through their academic journey
Supports students through relevant panel process
Involved in key decision-making processes within both the University & the SU
Key role in organising and running SU campaigns and events

What are your manifesto points this year?

Ensuring that the student voice is heard and respected,
Creating a more politically informed student body,
Aiding students to enjoy their academic experience as much as possible, feeling comfortable in the way they are taught and assessed,
Pushing sustainability measures,
Opening discussions about the negative impacts of prolonged AI usage.

How have you been involved with the SU during your time at Chi Uni?

I worked behind the bar at Zee for two years and supervised for one. I absolutely loved hearing all about students’ experiences while making drinks, and recommending which cocktails they should pick. It was such a great way to meet the wider student community.

What are you are looking forward to achieving with your role?

I’m looking forward to listening to the student voice, and using it to make real, recognisable change within the university, both academically and socially.
